This piece was done in ENGL 1000, Intro to Creative Writing. It is a fiction piece that was based on elements of the necropastoral, relying heavily on the death of nature. This piece uses a strong narrative voice with some social commentary weaved in throughout to evoke some emotion from the reader.
I wrote this piece as my final revision for WRIT 2040, Memoir and Personal Writing. It is based off the very first in-class exercise we wrote about a childhood friend. As I revised it, I added meta-commentary about themes of life that have been pertinent in the friendship and continue to be relevant today. It also includes a reflection at the end discussing the changes I incorporated and the choices I made.
This is a critical writing response from ENGL 1000, Intro to Creative Writing. Its job was to analyze themes of the uncanny and the abject in "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. This piece is an essay that demonstrates my ability to think critically and analytically about fiction work.
